The First Grade Butterflies use the Sight Words and Spelling iPad app!

The first grade spellers create custom lists of individualized spelling words within the app for learning focus.  Spellers create lists of 5 focus words.

The Sight Words and Spelling iPad app engages spellers in a variety of activities that promote accurate spelling and recognition of his/her individualized spelling words.

The Sight Words and Spelling app is used in combination with SpellBoard and Spellosaur to develop spelling "mastery".

individualized high-frequency spelling words and the This Week's Words iPad app

Accurate, consistent, and fluent written recording ("mastery") of high-frequency words is an important skill in the development as a writer.

Utilizing formative high-frequency word spelling assessments, individualized high-frequency spelling words for learning are identified for each student.

The First Grade Butterflies independently create a list of 10 (of the identified words for learning) individualized high-frequency spelling words in the This Week's Words iPad app.

This Week's Words supports each Butterflies' learning and development of high-frequency spelling word mastery through interactive and engaging activities that integrate visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles.

The app is utilized as an instructional support in students' learning, review, and assessment of individualized spelling words.

The First Grade Butterflies were sooooooo happy to get to the class set of 1:1 iPads!

After receiving their individual iPad, each student created a "new" (Spellosaur accounts on the original 13 iPads were deleted) Spellosaur account on their individual iPad.
Each student referenced his/her individualized Write Words (spelling words) for learning list and created a word list of 10 words in the Spellosaur app.
