Students work cooperatively and collaboratively with a math iPad partner using the Math Fill iPad app to determine the "missing" quantity in addition and/or subtraction equations.
Using the Math Fill iPad app...
-partners view the equation (or equations) on the screen and identify the operation, known information, and missing part (or parts)
-partners view the "available" numbers at the bottom of the screen
-partners share and discuss their thinking and reasoning for the number (or numbers and location for) to accurately complete the equation
-after agreement- partners move the identified number (or numbers) into the location (or locations) within the equation (or equations) and check for accuracy
-if inaccurate... partners discuss and revise
a first grader explains his mathematical thinking and reasoning to his partner |
