3 Snakes- measurement

Measurement Standards in the First Grade Common Core include- "order 3 objects by length; compare the lengths of 2 objects indirectly using a 3rd object".

The First Grade Butterflies used the 3 Snakes iPad app to compare and order lengths of 3 objects!

As mathematicians, the first graders...
-read the "challenge" (for example: "Make the blue snake longer than the red snake and shorter than the green snake." or "Make the green snake longer than the red and blue snake.")
-manipulated the front and/or back ends of the snakes using the arrow keys on the screen
-checked accuracy at completion

The 3 Snakes iPad app integrated reading with math and challenged students to apply viewing skills to manipulate, compare, and evaluate length.
