Having an e-mail for each student iPad allows information and attachments to be sent to and shared with student iPads, among student iPads, and allows information and attachments to be sent to and shared with the teacher.
But...
1. I wasn't comfortable creating "student" email accounts for 6 and 7 year olds.
2. I didn't want to create 26 separate email accounts. (I could only imagine the headache of managing an additional 26 accounts.... ahhhhh!)
So... I searched and researched options for email accounts on student iPads and found a great option! It is the gmail "+" method.
1. create a gmail account
for example- general e-mail account of "firstgrade@gmail.com"
2. for each individual iPad e-mail add a "+" followed by individualization
for example- individual e-mail account of "firstgrade+ipad1@gmail.com"
I created my classroom iPad "general" e-mail account and used the + method for each individual iPad (creating "+ipad(#)" for each of the 13 student iPads) to create an individual iPad account for each student iPad.
Each student will include his/her name in the subject line to identify between the two students utilizing the student iPad account when e-mailing information or submitting publications and/or progress.
